About this Website

I went two years without writing an "About this Website" page because I didn't think it was necessary. Then I received the following email that made me rethink this. So, for those of you who want to know more about this website, read on:

The Email:

"How extremely, excruciatingly unfunny. You are not mocking the object of your derision – President Obama and his government – you are mocking one of the most important and pivotal parts of the American national consciousness. The office is the building, so to say, and it might be only a building but it is all you have. What a waste of your time because you did a good job. Why not parody the Republican party or the Democratic party instead?"

My Response:
It's not supposed to be funny. Maybe occasionally mildly amusing at best. President Obama is not the object of my derision. My website tries to answer the question: What would whitehouse.gov look like if you take the "openness and transparency" promise to its extreme?

If I followed your suggestion and focused my efforts instead on either the Democrats or the Republicans, my site would become like every other "moaning-and-groaning about the idiots in the other party" blog. Not that I have anything against those blogs, I just don't think we need another one.

For the first year, my website included regular posts from "The President's Blog", which was supposed to be what President Obama's blog would look like if he were politically able to write what he truly felt. That section of the website sometimes revealed my political leanings. For example:
After a year of writing these blog posts, I decided to call it quits. Now, I just occasionally update some of the more popular or timely pages like "Camp David Weekend", "White House Tours", "Obama Hawaii Vacation", "Easter Egg Roll" and the "Raven Rock Mountain Complex Site R Tour".

So there you have it.

Oh... one more thing. I also write a blog called "About Camp David". I came across some interesting stuff about Camp David when I researched it in order to write the "Weekend at Camp David" parody page on this website. I found a load of information about Camp David spread all over the internet. So, I scooped it up and built a blog.

Nope, this is not the official website of The White House. It's a parody of whitehouse.gov.  No person, department, or agency of the U.S. Government approved, endorsed, or authorized this site. No animals were harmed while making this website (except maybe that one time when I was a little late feeding my dog his dinner).
