I heard my favorite song on the radio this morning: "You got owners, favorite drivers, boy
that Tony Stewart's a whiner!" That's right, I'm a real NASCAR fan. I
heard the other day that NASCAR is having trouble selling tickets in this lousy economy and I
want to do all I can to help promote this good 'ol American sport.
I love watching my
favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, driving the #25 car. I love the short tracks, especially
Daytona and Talladega! Nothing gets my adrenaline flowing faster than watching the blue flag
fly at the start of the race and hearing Darrell Walnut shout: "Boogery, boogery, boogery!
Let's go racing boys!"
So, you can imagine my distress when I heard NASCAR was having trouble selling tickets. I want to help out
here. I've learned from recent experience not to count on the good 'ol boys from the GOP to act, so I've
come up with my own Obama Nascar Plan.
I remember hearing about this "Car of Tomorrow". Sounds pretty
futuristic. My idea is this: why not make this "Car of Tomorrow" a hybrid or better yet, an electric
vehicle? This way, NASCAR can be an environmental leader in this nation and the races will be quiet
enough if you want to bring your "Popular Science" or "The Nation" to read during the really
long races.
One thing I know about NASCAR is people there like their food and drink. I've been to a few races and
I have to say, I was
disappointed at the selection of beverages (no Black Forest Berry Honest Tea to be found). And the food? Ever hear
of spam musubi, plate lunch, shave ice anyone?
A sport where you're always turning left is a sport worth saving.
